I cannot believe it has been over a month since my last post! Sadly I do not have a new recipe for you today, but instead, a new vision for my blog.
These past 5 weeks I have been doing my MNT (medical nutrition therapy) rotation at Centegra Hospital for my dietetic internship. During this I have realized that my blog morphed quite a bit from its original intention. Originally, I set out to make a blog that talked about nutrition and health and occasionally had a recipe or two. Instead, I became infatuated with the recipe part and never wrote another word about nutrition or health. I have decided that three has to be some kind of balance.
I have the next 3 weeks off, over which I will be studying MNT so I am tuned-up for my 10 week full-time rotation this summer. My thought is that I will use this blog to document what I am learning with the hope of teaching others about nutrition and health as well. With this, I will be sure to include recipes. I have not decided if the recipes will go along with the nutritional state I am talking about, or if they will just be whatever I am making that week. I think we will see as it unfolds.
If you have any questions about anything nutrition-related please email me or post a comment. While I am not licensed to give personalized nutrition advice yet (that would be a registered dietitian) I am wiling to do the research and see what I can find about the topic. For instance, if you were diagnosed with celiac disease I could not tell you specifically what to eat, but I could provide you with the education you need to better understand the disease and with that information you could go speak to a dietitian who can personalize the advice.
That is all for now. I plan to start this new endeavor this week, so keep an eye out!
